We coasted into Gatwick with just a few quid left over from our travel budget after our year-long adventure. And here we are – back in our living room in Cardiff.
It’s not easy to put into words how it feels to be back. Of course it’s wonderful to see our friends and family after so long but we can’t help feeling a little lost and bewildered at the reality of being home.
How can we ever feel ‘normal’ again after sleeping on the Great Wall of China, hand feeding wild orang-utans, watching sunrise at Angkor Wat, sitting metres away from an exploding volcano, zip lining through the Laotian jungle, flying stunt planes and diving with great white sharks?
We’ve probably sentenced ourselves to a life of discontent but we wouldn’t have changed a single thing.
We’ve seen and done things we never imagined possible and would encourage anyone even considering going travelling to get off their arses and make it happen. The friends, family and sadly the rat race will still be there when you get home.
It really is a life changing experience that we will never forget.
Everyone has been asking us what our highlights have been, but it’s an impossible question to answer as there are just too many. Nonetheless, we’ve had a bash at squeezing 12 months of adventure into a 7 minute photo & video montage of just some of our best bits.
So there you have it guys – the end of our adventure and our very last blog post.
We’re really looking forward to catching up with you all in person and subjecting you to a blow by blow account of our journey – a strong drink is highly recommended! Just remember that we don’t have jobs so the first round is on you!!
So that's it folks - until next time :-)
